The recently re-painted arms on Dudley House, in London’s Park Lane.
Patrick Baty of Papers and Paints was commissioned to carry out the heraldic research.
The coat of arms has nine quarterings, which represent some of the antecedents of the 1st Earl of Dudley. It might seem a small thing, but the use of the wrong colour can tell the wrong story. As it was, Patrick showed how the previous painting of the arms had misrepresented two families and he was able to correct this in his report, which gave the background to each of the nine families and their heraldry.
Papers and Paints supplied the paint, which was mixed specially following Patrick Baty’s paint analysis.
